JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie (2025) Review: Gojo and Geto's Last Summer Together

This jujutsu kaisen: hidden inventory / premature death - the movie review covers a compilation film that revisits the most beloved flashback in the series. Director Shota Goshozono gathers the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death arcs into one 110-minute feature. It is a tense, emotional action-animation that fans will want on the big screen.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The plot rewinds to the days when Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were close friends and the strongest duo in jujutsu society. They receive a delicate assignment: guard Riko Amanai, a student chosen to become the Star Plasma Vessel, until she can fulfil her duty.

The job is anything but simple. A religious cult wants her, and other curse users are closing in. The film follows the trio through the early stages of that mission, and the pressure builds from the start.

Newcomers should know this is a recap-style feature. It is a prequel to the main series, so some context helps, though the story is fairly self-contained.

What Works in Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie

The biggest strength is the bond at the centre. Writer Hiroshi Seko keeps the focus on two friends who feel like equals, which makes every quiet exchange count.

The film also moves well as a feature. Condensing two arcs into under two hours gives it momentum, and the pacing rarely sags.

• Character focus: Gojo's cocky confidence and Geto's calm idealism play off each other beautifully.

• Tone: Light, almost summery moments sit beside real menace.

• Action: Fights are fast, clear and shaped by the characters' personalities.

If you enjoy action movie reviews, this one delivers the genre's thrills with real emotional stakes behind them.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie Cast and Performances

The Japanese voice cast is the heart of the film. Yuichi Nakamura gives Satoru Gojo a younger, brasher edge, while Takahiro Sakurai plays Suguru Geto with a measured warmth that gives his scenes weight.

Anna Nagase voices Riko Amanai, the girl at the centre of the mission. Takehito Koyasu appears as Toji Fushiguro, Aya Endo returns as Shoko Ieiri and Risa Shimizu voices Misato Kuroi.

The cast list is short but strong. The chemistry between the leads sells the friendship the story depends on.

Where Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie Stumbles

The compilation format is the main weakness. Condensing arcs means some side beats are trimmed, and viewers who have not seen the series may feel they are catching up instead of simply watching.

The film also leans on emotional payoffs that work best if you already know where these characters end up. For a cold viewer, some of that resonance is lost.

Finally, because it reuses existing material, it offers little that is brand new for devoted fans beyond the big-screen experience.

Is Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie Worth Watching?

Yes, especially if you like animation movie reviews with real heart. The audience score is strong, and our own rating of 8.7/10 reflects how well the film combines action and feeling.

The film offers a focused, tightly paced look at one of the franchise's best stories. Its flaws come from being a recap, not from weak craft. You can read more about the production on Wikipedia.
