Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice (2026) Review: Time-Bending Gangsters Crash Into One Wild Night

This Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice review starts with a simple question: can a crime comedy juggle time travel, romance and gunfights without dropping something? Writer-director BenDavid Grabinski gives it a lively try, and the result is messy but often a lot of fun. With Vince Vaughn and James Marsden leading the cast, it is an easy film to want to like.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice plot follows two gangsters and the woman they love as they try to survive one very dangerous night. Marsden plays Quick Draw Mike, Eiza González plays Alice, and Vaughn appears as both Future Nick and Present Nick. Yes, that explains the title.

Then comes the wild ingredient: a time machine. It turns an ordinary underworld mess into a puzzle where characters can collide with versions of themselves. I will stop there, because the fun lies in watching the setup unfold.

The film is an action comedy at heart, but it borrows from romance, sci-fi and crime thrillers too. Fans of action movie reviews will recognise the shoot-outs and double-crosses. The tagline promises a "time-traveling, double-crossing, ass-kicking comedy," and that is a fair summary.

What Works in Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice

The biggest strength is the energy. The film moves quickly, the editing is crisp, and the jokes arrive in rapid bursts. Early audience reactions praise the clever little gags and the unusual story, and I agree that it feels fresher than most studio comedies.

• Sharp, fast dialogue: the banter keeps the film light even when guns come out.

• A playful time-travel hook: the idea of Vaughn playing off himself is funny and well used.

• A confident R-rated tone: the violence and profanity feel loose and cheeky, never grim.

Grabinski clearly enjoys the chaos he has built. His direction favours momentum over polish, which suits a story set across a single frantic night. It is a good fit for anyone who loves comedy movie reviews with an edge.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice Cast and Performances

The Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice cast is the main reason to press play. Vaughn does the heavy lifting in a double role, and some viewers call it one of his best turns in years. His rapid-fire delivery is a perfect match for the film's mouthy gangsters.

Marsden and González

James Marsden is great as Quick Draw Mike, bringing swagger and a touch of silliness. Eiza González holds her own as Alice, giving the story an anchor and keeping the love triangle from becoming a joke. Their chemistry with Vaughn gives the film its heart.

The supporting players add colour. Keith David plays Sosa, Jimmy Tatro appears as Jimmy Boy, and Stephen Root plays Chet. Each gets enough room to leave a mark, even if some feel underused.

Where Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice Stumbles

The main problem is focus. The film cannot decide whether it wants to be a buddy comedy, a romance, a sci-fi puzzler or a crime thriller. One critic called it a genre pile rather than a blend, and there is truth in that.

Some stretches feel overstuffed. Time-travel rules can get fuzzy, and the plot occasionally takes detours that slow the fun. At 107 minutes it is not long, yet it can feel like more movie than the story needs.

The humour is also hit and miss. When the jokes land, they land hard, but a few gags run on past their welcome. Viewers who want a tight, serious sci-fi story will be frustrated.

Is Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice Worth Watching?

Yes, if you want a loud, silly and inventive night in. The film is more fun than its messy structure suggests, and the cast sells even the shakier ideas. Audience scores sit around 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB, which matches my own view.

The Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice release date was 14 March 2026, and it arrives as an R-rated American comedy. It will not change the genre, but it offers enough charm and invention to be worth your time. Go in expecting chaos rather than precision.
