How we rate moviesSynopsis
Picking up moments after the first film, Paul Atreides and his mother Jessica are living among the Fremen of Arrakis. As Paul learns their ways and falls for Chani, a growing faction believes he is the messiah their prophecies promised — a belief Paul fears could ignite a holy war across the galaxy.
A sequel that earns its scale
Where Part One spent much of its runtime laying foundations, Part Two is free to build. Villeneuve and cinematographer Greig Fraser stage desert battles, sandworm rides and a stark, sun-bleached arena sequence on Giedi Prime with a clarity that never tips into noise. Hans Zimmer's score does as much storytelling as the dialogue.
Performances
Timothée Chalamet charts Paul's slow transformation from reluctant survivor to something far more unsettling, and the shift lands because the film never stops questioning him. Zendaya, sidelined in the first chapter, becomes the audience's conscience here. Austin Butler is a genuinely frightening Feyd-Rautha, all coiled menace.
Where it stumbles
The last half hour compresses a great deal of political maneuvering, and a few characters — Florence Pugh's Irulan in particular — feel like they are being set up for later rather than fully used now.

Anyone who loved the scale of Part One
Moviegoers looking for a blockbuster with real ideas
Pros
- Staggering large-format visuals and sound design
- Austin Butler's chilling Feyd-Rautha
- Zendaya's Chani becomes the film's moral center
- Never loses the personal story inside the spectacle
Cons
- The final act moves faster than the rest
- Some supporting characters get little room
Our Verdict
Dune: Part Two is the rare blockbuster that trusts its audience. It is overwhelming as spectacle and quietly devastating as a story about power — see it on the biggest screen you can.
