This Mass Jathara review starts with the obvious: this is a Ravi Teja show, built to please fans of loud, hard-hitting Telugu action. Director Bhanu Bogavarapu delivers fights and swagger, but the film has little else to offer. If the star is your reason to buy a ticket, you will get your money's worth in moments, not in the whole.

Mass Jathara Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The Mass Jathara plot is simple. Lakshman Bheri, a railway police officer played by Ravi Teja, is reassigned to a small town. There he runs into a smuggling network run by a ruthless drug lord and his family of criminals.

What follows is a face-off between the cop and that criminal world, set against a festival-season backdrop. Bogavarapu wrote the script with Nandu Savirigana, and it follows the well-worn path of the mass-hero action film. The setup is clear within minutes, which is a plus. The problem is that very little is added after that.

The film runs 144 minutes and was released on 31 October 2025 in Telugu. It is rated UA16+ by the Indian censors. Fans of action movie reviews will recognise the template at once.

What Works in Mass Jathara

Ravi Teja is the film's biggest strength, and reviewers agree on that point. He attacks the role with the energy fans expect, and he looks especially comfortable in the intense fight sequences. When the film leans on his presence, it comes alive.

The cinematography also earns praise. Even critics who dismissed most of the film singled out the camerawork. The festival setting gives the visuals some colour and scale, and the action is framed to feel big.

  • Ravi Teja's commanding, high-energy lead performance

  • Well-shot fight scenes with a loud, crowd-pleasing feel

  • Handsome cinematography that gives the town some texture

Mass Jathara Cast and Performances

The Mass Jathara cast is led by Ravi Teja as Lakshman Bheri, with Sreeleela as Tulasi. Rajendra Prasad plays Hanuman Bheri, Naveen Chandra is Sivudu, Naresh plays Dharmaraju, and Ajay Ghosh appears as Sannasi Naidu.

Ravi Teja is the one who consistently delivers. He gives the hero real punch and carries scenes that the writing leaves empty. Sreeleela has a role in the film, but reviews focus far more on the lead than on her.

The supporting performances are a weaker spot. One critic described almost all the actors as below par and over the top. That fits a film where volume often stands in for menace, and the villains rarely feel as dangerous as the hero's reputation suggests.

Where Mass Jathara Stumbles

The story is the main problem. Reviewers repeatedly point to a lack of depth, with one noting there are no extra layers beneath the surface. The beats are predictable, and the drug-lord conflict never builds the tension it needs.

The screenplay struggles to sustain 144 minutes. Fight scenes arrive on schedule, but without much to connect them, they begin to blur together. That is a familiar issue in the genre, and the film does little to escape it.

Critical response has been mixed to negative. Scores include 2.75 out of 5 from both 123telugu.com and Sakshi Post, 4.6 out of 10 from IMDb users and 2.35 out of 5 on Letterboxd. You can read more background on the film at Wikipedia.

Is Mass Jathara Worth Watching?

Mass Jathara is worth watching only if you are a committed Ravi Teja fan or you love old-fashioned mass action. The star performance and the fight scenes are the film's real selling points. Viewers looking for a fresh plot or a sharp script will likely be disappointed.

We rate it 4.5 out of 10. It has energy and a few strong moments, but too little of the supporting material works. If you want something with more narrative bite, browse our crime movie reviews or see how we judged another regional action title in our Diesel review.

Who Will Enjoy Mass Jathara

  • Ravi Teja fans who want him in full commercial-hero mode

  • Viewers who enjoy loud, fight-heavy Telugu action and do not mind a familiar plot

  • Audiences who value big-screen spectacle and cinematography over story depth

Pros

  • Ravi Teja's commanding lead performance
  • Energetic, well-shot fight scenes
  • Strong cinematography and festival setting

Cons

  • Thin, predictable story
  • Over-the-top supporting performances
  • Uneven pacing across 144 minutes

Our Verdict

Mass Jathara is a loud showcase for Ravi Teja, but a thin script keeps it from rising above routine action. Fans of the star will find enough to enjoy; others should lower expectations.
